Alicia's Bible Blog
I sat down this morning to take back up my daily blog after the death of my father last week. My reading was Haggai 2:7, "[A]nd I will shake all nations, so that the treasures of all nations shall come in, and I will fill this house with splendor, says the Lord of hosts." I had this as part of a longer reading back on October 3, 2021, so I am, again, reposting today. Here is that entry:
Haggai 2:4-9. God tells his people to take courage, he is with them. He will not forget his promise. "My Spirit abides among you; fear not." He says in a little while he will once again shake the heavens and the earth; the sea, the land, and all nations so that all the treasures of the earth and all the nations will come to his house. He will fill his house with splendor. The gold and the silver are his and he will use them. "The latter splendor of this house shall be greater than the former... and in this place I will give prosperity."
The fulfillment of this promise is beginning now. Jesus is rebuilding his Church. It is in a bad place now, it is true, but that is because it needs to be shaken, along with the rest of the world. The shaking has begun - all the nations, the Church, all the land, the sea are being shaken right now. We all feel it, although some of us are still denying it or trying to deny it. It doesn't matter if we deny it, though, it is happening anyway.
The devil is lying hard to us about what is happening. He is spinning his web of very convincing lies to keep us sedated. And for now at least many still are sedated, they do not see what is happening. Again, it does not matter - God is accomplishing his plan.
So his house, the Church, is being rebuilt. And he will make it beautiful, splendorous, better than it's ever been, his perfect bride. There is a lot of shaking still to happen, but that's okay - we know how the story ends, and he is telling us again here. It will be better than it ever has been for all of us in the end!
