Isaiah 2:12-19. The Lord has a day against all that is proud and lofty - against the high mountains; against every high tower; against every fortified wall; against all the ships of Tarshish. "The haughtiness of man shall be humbled, and the pride of men shall be brought low; and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day." All idols shall utterly pass away. Men will enter caves and holes, looking for somewhere to hide from the terror of the Lord, and the glory of His majesty "when he rises to terrify the earth."

More terror today! I am sensing a theme! The tipping point of man's pride and hubris has been reached. We are now causing too much harm and we refuse to even see our sin - we even think we are doing good in many cases! We have been so bamboozled! So this time of humbling must come, and indeed I believe it is here.

We all need to be humbled at one time or another, and the more we resist and avoid it, the worse it will be. We have been resisting and avoiding suffering for too long - we now think we can and should be able to avoid it altogether, and we believe we have the ability to make that a reality. We do not, and God will show us that, so that he alone will be exalted in that day.
