Tobit 11:19 "[A]nd Tobias' marriage was celebrated for seven days with great festivity."

I have not been to a wedding in years, nor have I experienced a really great celebration since before COVID. In some ways, I am pining for something like this, but I also feel, in my heart, it's not time yet. I feel like we are being prepared for a great celebration, but it will only happen when there is true reason to celebrate and everyone is ready to do so.

This celebration of Tobias' marriage took place after he returned home to his mother and father. He had been away a very long time and they had no idea what had become of him. His mother, especially, spent her days in great worry, convinced that her son had died. So we can imagine his parents' joy when he returned home safe, and with a new wife to boot!

Right now I, and I think many, are in the waiting period. It is not time for the celebration yet. Too many of our children, mine included, have been away from the Church, and sometimes even from their families, for a long time. I spend a good part of my days praying for them, and I know that a lot of mothers are doing the same.

I do not know how things will work out with our children, nor with all the division in our families and society, especially in this culture that seems so far away from God. But God does, and I know He is working to bring us all back to Him. And I know a wedding is in our future! This will be the greatest wedding that will ever be, the wedding of Christ to his Church. We will celebrate that one for all eternity, not just for one, or even seven days. That wedding day will have been well worth all the waiting and praying.
