Amos 1:9-10. God says he will send fire upon the walls of Tyre and it shall devour her strongholds. God is doing this to Tyre because of her transgressions. They have "delivered up a whole people to Edom" (the Phoenicians, of which Tyre was a part, sold people into slavery in Edom), and they did not remember the covenant of brotherhood (the Phoenicians had a special relationship with Israel, but they betrayed her).

God gives us time, often lots of time, to repent of our sins and to ask for forgiveness. Tyre was a very prosperous port city and the Phoenicians a very powerful nation. They didn't just start selling slaves and treating the Israelites unfairly overnight, they grew into both, doing them multiple times until it became part of their culture - their habitual behavior which their society rested. At any step before the punishment, they could have changed, but they did not. Now God is promising to send fire upon them, and He will. I think this time may be coming for all of us, and for our nation soon.
