Acts 13:44 "The next sabbath almost the whole city gathered together to hear the word of God."
This is the "next sabbath" after Paul preached in the synagogue at Antioch for the first time. Paul's words were obviously so inspiring, or maybe just intriguing, that now practically the whole city has come to hear him preach again. Unfortunately, the crowds are so large that the synagogue officials become jealous, and prevent Paul from preaching properly again, eventually driving him out of their district. (Acts 13:45, 50)
We need something to bring on this "next sabbath" in the Church. Our faith is so amazing, so powerful, so life-changing, and so true, that if someone preaches it boldly and honestly, people cannot help but be drawn to it. I believe this is starting to happen, and I am hopeful that our new pope will accelerate it.
Even in our own parishes, families, and friend groups, we should not be afraid to speak God's word with conviction. We may be prevented from speaking a second time, as Paul was, but who knows how many people may become interested in the faith through our initial words? People are hungry for truth in this world of lies, and we have the ability to lead them to it, if we are willing to be bold and speak up.
