Ezekiel 22:4. "You have become guilty by the blood which you have shed, and defiled by the idols which you have made; and you have brought your day near, the appointed time of your years has come. Therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations, and a mocking to all the countries." These are words God is telling Ezekiel to speak to Jerusalem as the city is soon to fall due to "all her abominable deeds." (Ezekiel 22:1).

Last night I was texting with my brother about the woeful state of our country. He began by pointing out the two tiered justice system in which a laid off Foot Locker employee is prosecuted for trading on knowledge acquired at work, while our senators and representatives become astonishingly rich based on their knowledge of who they themselves will reward and punish. We went from there to the blindness of many of our fellow citizens who simply refuse to see all the evil our country is doing; our leaders current thirst for war (with our own governor signing bombs in a recent photo op!); our military and other institutions being so blinded by ideology that they are nowhere near ready for what is coming and the challenges that face us. We are in a very sorry state.

Yet, this decline and pending collapse is exactly what I have been receiving messages about for years now. They started with God showing me his pain and dismay about abortion, and having me come to understand that He was going to act and we would all suffer. Nothing has changed since then, in fact it has all gotten much worse. We are, in many ways, a depraved nation with corrupt leaders, and we are suffering for it and will continue to until we wake up and repent. Like Ezekiel, I feel I have to say to my nation that "You have become guilty by the blood which you have shed and the idols which you have made; and you have brought your day near, the appointed time of your years has come." We have brought our time near. Just like Jerusalem, our corrupt leaders, and many of our people, do not see it and will not repent. So, also just like Jerusalem, we are being made "a reproach to the nations, and a mocking to all the countries."

Is there still time to repent and change? I do not know. I have not been getting messages about that from a national point of view, although I did just last night get one about an individual. As long as we are living we have time to repent for ourselves, but we also are, after all, a nation of individuals, so maybe my message from last night is an indication that we still have time to save our country.

Tomorrow will mark forty days until election day. I have suggested to many friends and prayer group partners that we begin a Lenten-like fast tomorrow. I am suggesting that everyone individually decide what they want to give up and/or commit to doing during this forty day period, making a heartfelt effort towards prayer and sacrifice for our country. Please join us in this if you are able!
