2 Chronicles 31:11-14. Judah has one of its good kings, Hezekiah, who is re-establishing proper worship and purging idol worship in the land. Here he commands the priests who have been receiving an abundance of offerings from the people to prepare the chambers in the House of the Lord. They prepare the chambers and then faithfully bring in all "the contributions, the tithes and the dedicated things." The passage then lists all the men overseeing this work, ending with "Kore the son of Imnah the Levite" who oversees the free will offerings to God, apportioning them between those reserved for the Lord and the most holy offerings.

What strikes me about this is the way people respond when a good leader and good men are in charge. As soon as Hezekiah starts the purge of idols and the re-establishing of right worship, the people respond with incredible generosity and sacrifice to God. Their offerings are laid "in heaps" there are so many of them!

It does not take much to reawaken our right worship. The desire to worship and sacrifice to our Lord is always in  us. When we go through a long, hard time of idol worship and the suffering that comes with it, we are primed for the return to God. We just need a good leader or leaders, and God will provide them in his time. That was true for the Jews with Hezekiah, and it will be true for us as well. We must just wait and keep the faith until someone comes along to purge us of this prevalent idol worship.
