Wisdom 3:13. "For blessed is the barren woman who is undefiled, who has not entered into a sinful union; she will have fruit when God examines souls."

Children are a blessing, but one we must wait for God to give us. There are people who are not meant to be married, and not meant to have children. If they discern that marriage is not right for them, and do not give in to the pressures of society or their families, or if they are unable to conceive, and refuse the faulty promises of IVF, they will have given up a lot for God's sake and will be rewarded in heaven.

As a mom of children who are old enough to be married and having children of their own, but are not, I needed to read this today. I want to see my kids happily married, I want grandchildren, but those are things that I want. Maybe God is calling my children in another way. As with everything else, I have to let go of my own wishes and trust Him. This verse reminds me that even if I do not understand why my children are not married and having children, there is a reason for it, and they have their own blessings in store.

As important as marriage and family are, God's will is more important still. I would rather have my children not married and childless in His will than married with lots of kids in theirs, or worse yet, mine.
