Matthew 4:13-16 "[A]nd leaving Nazareth he went and dwelt in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: 'The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles - the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned.'”

I absolutely love the way every part of prophecy is fulfilled. It shows that it is really just the speaking of truth, truth that is outside of time. Isaiah’s promise of light to a people who had lived in darkness could have applied to anyone and everyone (and did, actually, Jesus came for us all!) But he singled out the regions of Zebulun and Napthali because the One who was speaking to him knew that was where Jesus would begin His ministry (a special comfort to these lands that were the first to fall to Assyria).

This is just further evidence of the truth of the Bible. It all hangs together perfectly because it is all true. There are no machinations necessary to make it so, Jesus didn’t look at His watch and think “Oh, I have to get to Capernaum in order to make Isaiah’s prophecy come true!” Jesus was living His life exactly as He was meant to, fully in God’s will at all times. God’s will is perfect truth, and Isaiah, hearing perfect truth, passed it on 700 years before it happened. It really is so cool!
