Sirach 9:12. "Do not delight in what pleases the ungodly; remember that they will not be held guiltless as long as they live."
I wonder sometimes where the line is on this. The ungodly delight in a lot of things that are good - good food, drink, nice clothes, etc. So is it wrong to take pleasure in those things? I think I did take too much pleasure in many things that are good in the past. I was blind to how those things were "sedating" me and keeping me from looking to God. I was too comfortable it made me ungodly, in a way.
I see now why holy people are typically spare in their food, clothes, entertainment, and other worldly things. It is not that those things are bad, per se, but that when we give them too big of a place in our lives, they can become idols - things that draw our time and attention away from God and make us too comfortable in this world.
