Zephaniah 1:7-9. God tells Zephania that the day of the Lord is at hand. He's preparing a sacrifice, he has consecrated his guests. And on the day of his sacrifice he will punish "the officials and the king's sons and all who array themselves in foreign attire." On that day he will punish those who "leap over the threshold" and "those who fill their master's house with violence and fraud."

So, with yesterdays post, we have a reminder that we are not to trust deceptive leaders and that God will punish them. As I said before, though, I don't want them punished, I want them converted! How wonderful would this world be if all of our leaders, both secular and religious, stopped "leaping over the threshold," that is they stopped assuming that everything was about them and rushing into their "brave new world", and instead turned around and helped their people across the threshold, helped the people get ahead instead of themselves for a change?! By their selfishness and their lust for power, control, money, sex, and whatever else is driving them (it certainly isn't God!) they are bringing violence and fraud into the world.

Our current president and his son are completely corrupt. Everything about this administration is fraud all the way down. And we can see the results of having leaders - they have invited violence and fraud into our nation. Violence and fraud are honestly what I have come to expect in this country, and the world! The fraud is being perpetrated on the highest levels, while the people are being treated like sheep or cattle (and many are happy to act as such, unfortunately). Violence against anyone with whom one has even the slightest complaint is now par for the course (look at the Oscars!).

I know that his day of sacrifice and judgment is coming. I know he will lead his consecrated people to into his kingdom. But I honestly just want more people to get there, I want all these wicked people in charge of us to convert! He does, too, which is why he is delaying.
