Luke 11:15 "But some of them said, 'He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons'".

 

In a way, I can understand the thought that if someone exhibits control over an evil supernatural entity, He must be in league with that entity's leader. Why else would the demon obey unless it was getting orders from one higher up on the chain of command of wickedness? But that way of thinking is based on the false assumption that good and evil are equal vying forces - it is a permutation the friend/enemy distinction that is so problematic today and wreaking so much havoc.

 

Good and evil are not equal. There is one God, Creator of everything, even of the demons Jesus drove out (although He didn't create them to be demons), and He has control over all of His Creation. Because God is all loving, and love wants to be freely loved in return, He created His angels (and us) with free will. Just because some of them chose to turn away from Him does not mean He stopped loving them nor that He lost control over them.

 

Jesus is the embodiment of the God of the Universe, all things were created in Him, through Him, and for Him (Colossians 1:16). Of course He can tell a demon to leave someone and it must obey, both the demon and the person from whom He is driving it are His. God's word is creative, what He says is, and He always is in total control. He is the only one who is. Evil is subordinate, it is the choice of some of His creatures, but it has no power over God nor any part of His Creation that does not choose it.
