Proverbs 3:13-18. "Happy is the man who finds wisdom." The gain from wisdom is greater than that from silver and gold, and she is more precious than jewels. Wisdom brings long life, riches, and honor. Her ways are pleasant and her paths peaceful. Those who hold her fast are happy.

But what if you have or are seeking wisdom in a world that does not value it, and in fact scorns it? What if the world you are living in has come to actually punish wisdom and those seeking her? That is what has happened to our world, and that is how I know we are approaching something epic - a time when God will intervene in some way. (When Biblical Proverbs that are eternally true are being countered by the entire world you know that you have a problem!) Nowadays, anyone who tries to ask questions or think for themselves is labeled a conspiracy theorist, a right-wing nut, or worse. That is not the hallmark of a wisdom seeking nation or world!

But none of this makes the proverb untrue. Those who are asking questions and seeking the truth are generally happier in our lying world. They are not nearly as afraid of COVID, nuclear war, climate change, or of any of the other emergencies that the world keeps trying to make us frantic about, because wisdom has brought them trust in God, and trust in God brings peace.

The wise are, however, disquieted at the way others are being treated and at the level of evil that the Lord is allowing right now. This is another way we can intuit that something big is about to happen. But, as wisdom teaches us, we know God loves his creation, we know he loves us, and we must trust him. We know that nothing happens without his will, everything that happens has been factored into the Divine Plan!
