Sirach 1:4 "Wisdom was created before all things, and prudent understanding from eternity." So wisdom has been around from the beginning of everything! That makes sense, since the Holy Spirit, the third person of the eternal Trinity, is the Spirit of Wisdom.

 

Creation is properly ordered, it is not random or chaotic, so before God even began, the Spirit of Wisdom was at work. Wisdom underlies order, and preserves it. To be able to be proper participants in God's creation, exercise our dominion over the earth, and follow God's law, as we are meant to, we need a fair degree of wisdom.

 

Fortunately, the Holy Spirit is more than willing to share wisdom with us if we are humble enough to ask for and receive it. Things go well for us when we accept that gift and use it well, just look at Solomon. But if we forget wisdom, or start thinking it comes from us, things can go bad quickly, as we can also see by looking at Solomon.
