Acts 17:6 "And when they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brethren before the city authorities, crying 'These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also'".

That's what Christianity does, right!? It turns the world upside down! Jesus' kingdom is an upside down kingdom, it is the opposite of everything expected from a king. He has all the power, but He does not lord it over anyone, rather He uses it in complete humility to defeat the ultimate enemy of humanity, death, and bring us all to safety. He created everything, has complete control over everything in existence, yet He lived as a poor, humble carpenter and allowed Himself to be put to death by worldly powers. He teaches us to love and forgive our enemies, to welcome them into His kingdom, even reaching out to them in love to bring them in.

All of this is so contrary to what humanity had known before Him, and to our fallen "default" position regarding power, that it sounds completely wrong to worldly ears. Yet it also brings an awakening in our hearts that tells us that it is completely right. That is how it turns the world upside down!

For most of my life I did not see my faith as something radical. Maybe it was because I grew up in a faithful family, surrounded by faithful people, and the people in my world were for the most part trying to live in a Christian way, so I did not see how very different Christian lives were from the ways of the world. But over the last several years, I have come to see that radical difference more and more.

As divisions and disagreements lead to hardened hearts, dehumanization, and even violence, I see how truly radical it is to love ones' enemies and pray for those who persecute you. The last few years have awakened a fire in me, a desire to tell everyone how exciting and fulfilling it is to be truly Christian, to "turn the world upside down" and help build His kingdom on earth. I think a lot of people are feeling the same way, which gives me great hope for the future! His upside down Kingdom is coming! Hallelujah!

I show this video, How Jesus Became the King of the World (That He Always Was), to my PREP class every year. It talks about the upside down Kingdom of God, ushered in by His Son.
