Isaiah 61:10 "I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall exalt in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels."
This reminds me of the post from a few days ago, God Wants to Adorn Us. This time, though, there are even better things than jewels being bestowed. Isaiah says God has covered him with garments of salvation and the robe of righteousness. These are compared to garlands and jewels so as to give an idea of how beautiful they are, but they are much more valuable than any jewel. When we give ourselves to Him, God takes us wholly into His love; He protects us like a spouse, and He wraps us in His salvation and righteousness. As long as we stay there, nothing can harm us. Yes, the wickedness of the world will try to, even more because we are with Him, and it will land some blows, but they will be easily borne.
In His garment of salvation and robe of righteousness, we know of God's sure protection and ultimate promise. We know what has been gifted to us, and that it cannot be taken from us. The only way we can lose it is to step out of His protective garments, and why would we want to? They look so good on us!
