Proverbs 10:30. "The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land." This proverb is one way we can tell that this world is not truly our home, since in this world, the righteous are removed - just look at the martyrs; and we see wickedness dwelling all around us. This is clearly talking about our forever home, Heaven, where the righteous will dwell for all eternity. Jesus' parable of the weeds and the wheat tells us the same - the wicked are here with us, and God allows them to remain in this life, but when the harvest comes, they will be separated and destroyed.
As much as we think we know who the wicked are, really only God knows. Only He knows the ones who will not allow their hearts to be turned to Him and accept His mercy. From where we stand, we cannot truly tell the righteous from the wicked (although we can, and should, judge behavior, and keep far from those doing wicked deeds, lest we are tempted to join them). So we live temporary lives in this world of the wicked and the righteous, the weeds and the wheat, knowing that in the next, eternal life, only the righteous will remain (and we hope that there are many more righteous, and many fewer wicked, than it might appear)!
