Romans 1:18-21. Paul writes that the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against men who, by their wickedness, suppress the truth. What can be known of God is plain to them, for God has revealed it to them - His invisible nature is clearly perceived in all of creation. "So they are without excuse; for although they knew God they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened."
The truth has been suppressed, manipulated, and tortured for so long, much longer than I had ever realized before. All signs point to the wrath of God being about to be revealed in truth's defense. Remember that Jesus Christ is the Truth, so when we lie, obfuscate, or twist the truth, we are torturing Him. God will let us get away with that for a time, just as He let us crucify Jesus, but, just as Jesus rose from the dead, the truth always prevails in the end.
When the truth is revealed, it can cause tremendous pain and suffering to those who supressed it, and even to those who were deceived by the ones suppressing it, this is what Paul describes as God's wrath. We can see our leaders now trying desperately to hold onto power so that their lies are not fully revealed. They may be successful, for a while, but not forever. We must pray for them, even if they are behaving wickedly, they are beloved children of God to whom He wants to grant His mercy, if they will accept it.
We must also pray for the leaders of the Church, especially with the upcoming Synod. Let's pray that they, knowing the truth, do not turn from it and become futile in their thinking, darkening not only their minds and souls, but those of their flock as well.
