Judges 13:4-5. "Therefore, beware, and drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, for lo, you shall conceive and bear a son ... the boy shall be a Nazarite to God from birth; and he shall begin to deliver Israel from the hand of the Philistines."

This is the Angel of the Lord announcing the conception of Samson to his mother. Note that the angel just says that Samson will begin to deliver Israel from the Philistines. This is not something that Samson, for all his strength, will finish. Samson had his issues, he was far from perfect, and even far from a great leader. But he played his part and did begin the process of delivering Israel from the Philistines.

Most of us don't even have roles as important as Samson's, but we do have roles. Most of history is played out in times where the ongoing battle between good and evil is less obvious but just as ever present. We often do not realize our roles in this battle, but if we try to do what is right, try to answer the call that God gives us, even though we have our weaknesses, we really are helping to deliver humanity from evil. This is the story of salvation. Most of us just have supporting roles, but those roles are just as essential as the leading players.
