Hebrews 6:18-19. (This is not a random reading today, it is a passage referred to by the Novena for Life reflection for today.) God, who does not lie, has set strong encouragement before us. He has made an oath with us. We, then, who are fleeing for refuge can flee to him, who is unchangeable, and can "seize the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner shrine."

God is unchangeable, where else would we seek refuge but in the unchangeable? Anything else will eventually crumble away. Jesus is our hope for this refuge, he has made it fully available to us. He enters it, into the inner shrine, to intercede for us.

Our God loves us so much, he not only made a covenant with us, he also fulfilled it by sending his only Son to die for us, so that he may always intercede for us. What an amazing hope, the promise has already been fulfilled! All we have to do is flee toward it, rely on it, trust him. He always loves us, he will always intercede for us. There is nothing unchangeable but this.
