2 Chronicles 23:1-3. The kingdom of Judah is under the rule of Athaliah, the evil queen mother of the Dead King Ahaziah. The people are subdued and scared but then, in the seventh year, the high priest Jehoiada took courage and started entering into agreements with the army commanders and otherwise gathering the people who would resist Athaliah. Once they were all gathered, they made a covenant with the young true king who was in hiding. And Jehoiada said "Behold, the king's son! Let him reign as the Lord spoke concerning the sons of David."

It just takes a spark to start the fire, but sometimes we have to wait until the kindling is ready. Jehoiada was that spark, but he waited seven years. He refused to cower in fear any longer, he sought to make things right. It is so easy to think that we are alone in wanting to see things set right and that the forces of evil are unbeatable. But good always wins and there are always men and women of goodwill who will fight against the evil. God is just waiting for the right time to call us call to us to begin carrying out his plan.

Jehoiada had to wait seven years for the time to be right! For now, we must bide our time in God and trust him. He has a plan and is carrying it out. He knows who his warriors are, and he knows when they should be called up to battle.
