Wisdom 6:1-3. "Listen therefore, O kings, and understand; learn, O judges of the ends of the earth. Give ear, you that rule over multitudes, and boast of many nations. For your dominion was given you from the Lord, and your sovereignty from the Most High, who will search out your works and inquire into your plans."
As Jesus told Pilate, power is given by God. Since it is from God, every person with power of any kind will have to account for how they used it, God will inquire into their plans.
I think there are a lot of politicians, church leaders, judges, and others in positions of power who are going to be in a very bad place when God inquires of their plans. I would not want to be in their shoes, especially the "Catholic" ones who have gone so far astray in the use of their power. I wish they would think about this now, and adjust accordingly, for our sake and for the sake of their souls.
I also have a certain degree of power, we all do. Most of us are not kings, judges, or politicians, but we have others areas in which we exert some power, even if it is just within our families. We will be asked about how we used our power, just like kings will.
Once we recognize all power is from God, and that that He preserves order and builds a just world when His people to use their power in accordance with His ways, we get into right relationship with our power. The kingdom of heaven becomes closer with each exercise of power that recognizes its source.
