Joshua 16:4. "The people of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance." This chapter and the next go on to set out the boundaries of the land allotted to the Ephraimites and the tribe of Manasseh. Many chapters of the book of Joshua are taken up with detailed descriptions of the lands allotted to the tribes of Israel. I've written before about how this makes it clear that borders are important to God.
We all get our inheritance from God, and it is always exactly what we need and deserve. While here on Earth, we get all the blessings, gifts, trials, and sufferings we need to bring us to Heaven. Heaven is our ultimate inheritance, the one that has been gained for us by Jesus Christ, but we have to want to accept it. That is the point of the things we get in this lifetime, they are meant to bring us to that longing for Heaven.
But we can turn away from our inheritance, we can refuse to receive it. In the Book of Heaven, Luisa talks of being transported to the crucifixion and seeing "all generations past, present, and future in Jesus ... and He suffered for all in general, and for each individual in particular ... and I could also see the remedy He administered to us, with the exception of no one, for our evils and for our eternal salvation." (Book of Heaven, Volume 4, April 5th, 1901).
Jesus administered the remedy to and for each person without exception in order for each to attain eternal salvation. This is our ultimate inheritance, all we have to do is accept it.
