Ezekiel 40:44-47. Part of Ezekiel's vision in which the angel is showing him the heavenly Temple. Here they enter the inner court where there are two chambers - one to the north which opens south, and one to the south which opens north. The one to the north, the angel says, is for the priests who have charge of the Temple and the one to the south, facing north, is for the priests who have charge of the altar. The only priests allowed here to minister to the Lord are to be the sons of Zadok. The angel measures the inner court, and it is 100 cubits by 100 cubits.

I wonder why the only the sons of Zadok were allowed to minister to the Lord. Although the entire tribe of Levi were the priests, and God loves them all and values their service, Zadok and his sons alone merited the honor of ministering to the Lord in the heavenly Temple. I must try to research Zadok and see what I can learn.

But for this morning, this is a good lesson for me that some priests really are just holier than other priests. I don't have to feel bad if I find a certain priest especially faithful and holy and I seek out his counsel over others. Even God did that! It is not a judgment of wrongdoing on the part of other priests, it is an acknowledgment of the holiness and goodness of the one priest. And that is a good thing!
