1 Samuel 17:22. "And David left the things in charge of the keeper of the baggage, and ran to the ranks, and went and greeted his brothers."

We should always leave our "things" in order to prioritize our brothers! The "things" David is leaving are the provisions for his men. They are very important - without them, the army would suffer and probably lose to King Saul. But there is a keeper of the baggage, and David trusts him to keep the provisions as safe as possible while David goes and greets his men. His men are more important to him in this moment, and that is absolutely right.

No matter how essential we think our watchful eye is over the "things" in our life; no matter how important or holy those things may be, people are always more important. Only people contain the spark of divinity, the Spirit of God. No thing will ever contain that, and God will always protect and provide the things we need if we prioritize people over things.
