1 Corinthians 12:27-30. Paul tells us that we are all the body of Christ and individually members of it. God has appointed first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracle workers, healers, helpers, administrators, and speakers in tongues. Not everyone has every gift, but we are all part of the body of Christ.

In every great endeavor there is always a lot that has to be done. How much more is this true for the Church - the institution that will see humanity through history!? So of course God gives each of us different gifts and different skills to use in service of Him and His Church. These are the things that we offer back to Him by using them to help build the Kingdom of God. Paul recognizes that there is a hierarchy - the apostles come first, then prophets, etc. But that does not mean that anyone is better than anyone else, just that he or she has been given different skills and called to a different task.

We all have something to contribute active members of the body of Christ. So we should not compare ourselves to others or their status but instead joyfully use the gifts we have been given to help Jesus and his Church.

This applies to, I think, to causes. There are many battles to fight in this fallen world and if we were all fighting on the same front we would be leaving other areas wide open for enemy incursion. So God puts different calls in our hearts. We should not get angry or frustrated with someone who does not put the same emphasis on whatever issue we see as the most important.

They may be called to fight for a different issue. And in our current state, we certainly know that there are enough of them that need to be fought!
