Revelation 19:5-8. After the judgment of Babylon, "the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication," the great multitude in heaven is rejoicing. Then from the throne comes a voice crying "Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him small and great." And the multitude replies with great praise and cries out "the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready," she is clothed in fine linen that is the righteous deeds of the saints.

The Bible is a love story, and Revelation is when the guy finally gets the girl. The whole thing is the story of God wooing us, lavishing us with gifts, begging us to be faithful to him, and loving us beyond anything we deserve, as we first love him, then allow ourselves to be tempted away, then reject him for what we think is something better, then suffer for separating ourselves from him, and finally turn back to him. God is always faithful to us, but we are so fickle, especially while the devil and "the great harlot" are still around to tempt us and corrupt us.

Revelation is the culmination of all of our struggles and all of God's work toward getting us to salvation, and it is the book where the Lamb finally marries his Church. Jesus, the Lamb, created the Church to be his bride. And we are the Church, therefore we will marry our maker. Once our linen garments, woven from the works of the saints, are washed as white as snow in the blood of the Lamb, we will be ready. I cannot wait for our wedding day!
