Isaiah 20. God has Isaiah go naked and barefoot for 3 years. He then tells Isaiah to say that this was a sign from God as to how the Egyptians and Ethiopians would be taken away into exile, naked and barefoot, by the Assyrians. This will cause great shame to the proud Egyptians and will cause the people to lament because they had put their hope all of their hope and trust in the power of Egypt and Ethiopia, who are now shown to be powerless. They shall say quote behold, this is what happened to those in whom we hope and to whom we to whom we fled for help. " A couple of things. First - how crazy did Isaiah look. With no explanation open prayer not even to him! Close praying? God didn't tell Isaiah why he was to do this, he just told him to do it. And Isaiah did! That is faith and trust and obedience. I wish that I could be that obedient and selfless! Second, God always brings the people and things that we put all of our faith and trust in open friend that is, our idols close friend to shame. The only proper place for all of our faith and trust is in God, as Isaiah shows us by his obedience. When we forget that and start putting our faith in leaders or governments, especially ones that are not seeking God's ways, then they become idols and will eventually be shamed and fall.
