1 Timothy 4:6-10. Paul tells Timothy to give Paul's instructions to the rest of the brethren who are with Timothy. This will make Timothy a good minister of Jesus Christ. One of Paul's instructions is to warn the brethren to have nothing to do with "godless and silly myths." He tells them to train themselves in godliness instead. Training in godliness is a superior to training in the body since it holds promise in this world and also in the next. "We have our hopes set on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially those who believe."

I guess "godless and silly myths" are always with us! They're certainly are plenty of them around today leading people astray. It's easy for those who can see through these myths, who can see how truly silly they are, to get so frustrated with people who succumb to them, especially when the myths are hurting them or other others, but Paul reminds us at the end of this that Jesus is the Savior of all men. So Jesus wants to save the myth-makers and the mythbelievers as well!

If they are going to be saved, they will have to eventually realize that the things they believe are godless and silly. The best way for that to happen is for those who believe in Christ to stay in relationship with them, although it may have to be a more distant relationship than they had before the myth came between them. This way, as the person begins to "wake up", to question the myth, they will have a trusted, grounded person to whom to address their questions.
