Nehemiah 9:11. "And thou didst divide the sea before them, so they went through the midst of the sea on dry land; and thou didst cast their pursuers into the depths, as a stone into mighty waters."

I use the parting of the Red Sea sometimes when teaching PREP as an example of one of God's great miracles that people, especially in modern times, often try to "explain away" with scientific reasons for what happened. I sometimes hear that when Moses and the Israelites got to the Red Sea, it was just the right time of year for there to be a dryness that could possibly have led to there being a passage through. At the same time of year, heavy rains were possible, which, especially with the dry ground, could cause flash flooding, and destroy the pursuing Egyptians. This all sounds very possible and reasonable, but I say "So what?"

God wanted to save the Israelites, and to do so Moses had to lead that multitude across the Red Sea without being caught by the pursuing Egyptians. Even if the miracle did not happen like "walls of water" on either side of the Israelites, it is still miraculous that at the moment they needed to cross a sea on foot, they could! And at the moment the Egyptians could have caught them, the waters returned, and prevented that! No matter how you look at it, it is a miracle, and God used His world, His nature, and His power, to save His people!

I am coming to understand that we can choose to see the truly miraculous things going on all around us all the time, and praise God, or we can choose to believe only more scientific or rational explanations, and deny that God is at work. The same things still happen, it is just a matter of perspective and faith. Once I started to see God's hand in things, I truly could not see things any other way. It is like an out of focus picture coming into focus - it is undeniable.

In today's world, the offered scientific and rational explanations for so many things are built on a staggering amount of deception and lies, so they are starting to become unbelievable simply by looking at reality. I believe this is what is causing a lot of the strange behavior I see in other people - their brains are being confronted with an undeniable challenge to the reality that they have been told is true, but clearly isn't. I believe this is another sign that something big is coming. We can only deny the truth for so long before we drive ourselves insane, and we are very close, as a society, to that breaking point. But God will, once again, save his people!
