Psalm 69:30 "I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving."

 

I don't usually think that I am magnifying God with my praise or my thanksgiving, but I like this idea. God is already everything, it is hard to imagine magnifying Him in any way. But so many people don't know Him; they don't know the joy of His love. Even though He is with them and all around them, directing things to their ultimate good, as much as they will allow, they have no idea, and therefore don't feel the love He wants to lavish on them.

 

Since I do feel His love, and the joy and peace that come with it, I can magnify God to others simply in my praise and thanksgiving to Him. I don't have to force anything, I just have to unabashedly thank God for all the good He has done for me, just as Mary did in her Magnificat expressing this exact sentiment. That in and of itself will show others God's goodness. It is the best form of evangelization; it magnifies He who is everywhere, yet unseen by so many.
