Matthew 10:26. "So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known." The "they" here are the Pharisees and elders who called Jesus Beezebul, and in this passage Jesus is alerting his apostles to the fact that they can expect to be treated no better than He is (and look at what He went through!) But, He says, they are not to fear, for all will be made known in the end.

This applies, of course, to all Jesus' disciples - none of us should expect to be treated any better than He was in this world. So when we are rejected, maligned, accused falsely, even imprisoned or killed, we remember how Jesus accepted the same treatment. And we can take heart in the promise that all shall be revealed, there is nothing hidden that will not come to be known. Jesus Christ is Truth itself - He knows the Truth because He is the Truth. The lies and deceptions of this world may hold sway for a very long time (too long for my liking, to be honest!), but they won't last forever. They can't, they are not Truth, and only Truth lasts forever.

Today is the Feast of St. Andrew who reportedly saw the cross on which he was to die and said "O good cross made beautiful by the limbs of Christ, so long desired, now so happily found!" Andrew knew not to be afraid of what earthly powers could do to him, because he lived a life of Truth. And now, 2,000 years later, we all know of St. Andrew, but we know none of the people who scourged and killed him. They have had their acts revealed in the light of the Truth, and have been judged accordingly, as we all will be.

Nothing we try to hide will remain hidden, so why not live a life in which we have nothing to hide?
