Zechariah 8:8 "[A]nd I will bring them to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be my people and I will be their God, in faithfulness and righteousness."
We really do, in our hearts, all want to get to this place. We yearn to dwell in the New Jerusalem in faithfulness and righteousness as God's people. But we don't know that is what we are looking for. We've been blinded, we live under a cloud of sin, and we desperately seek something to fill the void in our hearts, often stubbornly refusing to believe it could be as simple as surrendering to God and letting Him lead us to it. But that's what He will do, and that's the only way we can get there! "I will lead them to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem", He says. The Jews didn't find the Promised Land on their own, nor when they were exiled could they get back there in their own. It was God orchestrating things and leading them each time.
We really do not have to do anything but surrender. If we give God our fiat, and follow where He leads, we will find ourselves in the midst of Jerusalem, in faithfulness and righteousness. Then, no matter what is going on in the world or in our lives, we will be content. We will have been led to what we have been searching for all our lives.
