Acts 5:12-16. The apostles were doing many signs and wonders among the people. "None of the rest dared join them, but the people held them in high honor." Believers were added daily, increasing their numbers by multitudes, and many brought the sick out into the streets so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on them as he passed by. People also poured in from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those afflicted by spirits, and all were healed.
It must have been so wild to be in Jerusalem in those days! Miracles were happening every day, the Spirit was alive and active in the believers, and the apostles were preaching and teaching in the streets! I can't even imagine what that must have felt like! Wow! But even with all of that, we learn "none of the rest dared to join them." Who are these "rest"? Do they mean the Jewish hierarchy? Do they mean other Jews? Or do they mean certain other of Christ's followers who had seen what happened to Jesus and were letting fear keep them away? Whoever they were, boy did they miss out!
God will conquer all our fear if we just surrender to Him. He did this for the apostles as they were in the Upper Room, and He did it for the people of Jerusalem when the apostles went out into the city. Eventually, He will send Spirit and His apostles out to the whole world with the words and power to conquer all of our fear if we just let them.
