Psalm 22:1-5. This is the psalm from which Jesus cried out as He hung on the cross. "My God, my God why has thou forsaken me? " I cry out to you all day and all night long but you do not answer. I cannot rest at night. I groan but you are far from me. Yet, you are holy. Our fathers trusted in you and you delivered them, they were not disappointed in their trust.
Trusting God is always the best answer. He alone knows the best thing for each of us and He will deliver us from all evil. But, man, in the moment that trust and patience is so hard! We cry out all day and night and get no answer. We wonder where He is and what He is doing. Has he abandoned us? Has he given up on us? It is so comforting to know that Jesus himself was pushed to this limit, to this cry.
So we are not alone in our suffering, and we know, from the history of the Jewish people as well as in our hearts and from our own personal experience, that he will never abandon us.
