1 Corinthians 8:2 "If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know."
The timing of this verse is perfect for me. Last week, a friend told me that a team of scientists has revealed that they believe they have evidence of vast chambers and shafts beneath the pyramids. When she said that, I remembered that I had seen, but never read, a lengthy article by The Ethical Skeptic which was about the pyramids, and of which he warned that after reading "your perspective on both the Giza Pyramids and our planet may never be the same again." Wondering if he was talking about these shafts and chambers, I read the article, Hidden in Plain Sight, later that day. The Ethical Skeptic was not writing about these apparent new discoveries, but rather about how his theory of Exothermic Core-Mantle Decoupling - Dzhanibekov Oscillation Theory, which posits a relationship between cataclysmic climate and geological events and the Earth's core, is evidenced by the pyramids. He argues, in part, that the pyramids are much older than the Egyptian civilization to which we attribute them, and the Kahfre pyramid is physical and visual evidence that there once were ocean waters that came up to the point of the intact cap of that pyramid and ate away at the smooth stone finish, a finish that remains on the cap and at one time extended over the entire pyramid. This, of course, brought to my mind the Biblical flood (even though Ethical Skeptic dismisses it as being too short-lived), and I thought again how there are so many things that we really do not know, but we do know that God does not lie, although the way He reveals things to us is often in symbolic, literary language, which we may not fully understand until we are meant to. A massive flood eons ago that wiped out the true civilization that built the pyramids would certainly fit with the story of Noah, I thought, even if the precise 371 days the Bible speaks of were not meant to be taken literally (what is a "day" to God?).
Then, probably because I had been looking into the recent pyramid talk, a Michael Knowles interview with Tim Alberino, the "Rogue Archaeologist", popped up on my YouTube feed yesterday. I watched, listened, and was absolutely fascinated. Tim talks about ancient megalithic structures: how they are all over the world; how he does not believe they could have been built by the civilizations to which they are attributed; how he believes they are much older than we think; and how he believes the civilizations that built them were wiped out in a cataclysmic flood. He also talks about the Nephilim, giants that were the result of the pairing of fallen angels and human women. I have been watching Amazon Prime's House of David, which goes into the Nephilim as well, and portrays Goliath as one of them. It just was so weird how all these things that I do not think about with any kind of regularity, if even at all - the pyramids, ancient structures, the flood, and the Nephilim - were all coming to my attention within the space of a few weeks! I don't know how much of any of what I am seeing or reading beyond the Bible I believe to be true, although I will say I am definitely skeptical of Tim's belief in aliens as non-supernatural beings. I tend to think more along the lines of Daniel O'Connor's view on the alien deception. After seeing with COVID how deceptive and convincing the world's lies can be, I can see how an alien deception could have been in the works for decades, maybe not knowingly by human beings, but by the devil/demons working through them.
Even though I am not sure what is true in all of this, I find myself suddenly interested in hearing and learning about things to which I did not give a second thought a few weeks ago! This, I believe, is the Holy Spirit prompting me, that seems to be the way He works in my life. As I ponder it all, I realize again that God has a plan, one He describes to us as much as He wants to, in the way He wants to, through Jesus Christ, through the language of the Bible, through His Church, and through His private promptings of our hearts and minds. We can put the puzzle pieces we have together, and we might think we are looking at something approaching the correct picture, but only He knows the full truth. The things He leads us to learning or discovering are meant to help us improve ourselves and/or deal with what is coming. That is why I believe the Holy Spirit is leading me to think on these things.
We do not have to know everything, nor could we fully understand it all. We are much like Job, pondering what we know of God and wondering what is going on. But God is always God, He is in charge of the whole universe, all of Heaven, all of Creation. He alone knows the full picture. Whenever we think we know something, we should remember that we do not know as we ought to know. And we should remember that Paul's words here were written in regard to the eating of food sacrificed to idols. He stressed what we are certain of - that the idols are not real, and that the sacrifice does not make them any more real; that God alone is God; and that we have to be concerned with our proper behavior in the context of what we do know. (1 Corinthians 8)
When pondering anything, even these great things that we may never fully understand, we should always remember what we do know, what is certain truth, and behave in accordance with that at all times. These are some truths that I fall back on to guide my thoughts and behavior when I am confronted with things I do not understand: God alone is God, the Creator of all things; we are created in His image; Jesus Christ, His Son, took on human flesh to save us; the devil is the father of lies, but God will never lie; the Bible is truth, often written in a way so as to convey a hidden or difficult to understand message; if we truly love the Creator, we will love all of Creation, even our brethren with whom we disagree strongly, who are bring misled, or who are lying to us; this world is fallen, yet God wants to save every single soul in it.
