1 Timothy 5:17 "Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching."

 

Our parish just had its annual 40 Hours Devotion, and our pastor always invites a visiting priest or deacon to officiate and preach at this. I was able to make two of the three nights of services, and both homilies given by the priest this year were phenomenal. The first night, I felt as if the Holy Spirit was speaking directly through him to me. The second brought me to tears (and others have told me they had the same reaction). He filled a weary and sometimes hurting congregation with hope, comfort, and renewed promise. It was beautiful!

 

The elders who labor well in preaching and teaching have such a tremendous impact on the flock. We need guidance, support, and so much more, sometimes things that we don't even know we need until we hear them spoken to us in love. These men indeed deserve double honor, so much gratitude, and our generous support. Praise God for putting them in our lives!
