Psalm 89:30-37. God promises that David's line shall endure forever. If his children violate God's statutes their transgressions will be punished, "but I will not remove from him my steadfast love." God will not violate his covenant.
This is a lot like His Promises Are Unbreakable. God always says what he means and mean what he says does - he does not lie, he does not break promises. What God says is. So God promised Davis an eternal kingdom, and he delivered through his son, Jesus, who saved us all. This does not mean that our sins and iniquities will go on punished, though. They have to be removed from us in order for us to be with him forever.
I find this reading especially comforting today. I am worried about my children, I worry about my children constantly (what mother does not?), but this reassures me. My children are baptized, they are members of his Church. He has promised that his Church will endure forever and he will protect and save his children. So, while my children will suffer for their transgressions, as we all do, it will be suffering meant to bring them fully back to him, to remove their transgressions.
I cannot save my children, I can't even save myself. Every single one of us needs and has been given a Savior, and he has showed us how it is done - the way of the Cross. There is no getting around it, but there is also no Easter Sunday without Good Friday.
