Song of Solomon 2:9. "My beloved is like a gazelle, or a young stag. Behold, there he stands behind our wall, gazing in at the windows, looking through the lattice."

Yesterday my daughter was lamenting that she's having a hard time connecting with one of her best friends ever since the friend started dating a young man she seems serious about. I explained to my daughter, who has not yet been in love, that when you are falling in love, it really is all you can think about. No one else matters, you just spend all of your free time together, and all of your time apart thinking about the other person. That feeling eventually calms down, thank goodness, and I told my daughter to just wait, and be happy for her friend in the meantime.

The Song of Solomon shows us this aspect of God's love for us - this eros He has for us, and His preoccupation with us never calms down (thank goodness for that, too!). God is constantly loving and thinking of us, looking through the lattice and windows, pining for us to come to Him. When we do, the connection is so electric! We feel His love so intensely, we wonder why we stayed away from Him for so long! Again, for us, the intensity of this feeling usually calms down a bit, it has to or we would not be able to function. But this feeling never calms down for Him! He always feels the same intensity of love for us. Jesus tells Luisa Piccarreta that she would go mad if He showed her the full force of His love for her - "your weak nature would be consumed by the flames of my love." Book of Heaven, Volume Two, September 9, 1899.

God is love. He is every aspect of love: philia, eros, storge, and agape. He is every kind of love for each of us at all times, in their most perfect and full expression, because He is the very source of them, and that is what He is. He cannot be anything else! Knowing that, and feeling the intensity of even a shadow of these feelings for others and, more importantly, for Him sometimes, why do we ever worry or doubt? He is constantly loving us and looking for us! He wants to pour His love over and into us as much as we can bear. He wants nothing more than to be with us always and forever and He will never stop feeling that way about us! How blessed we are to be so loved!
