Judges 5:1-2 "Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day: 'That the leaders took the lead in Israel, that the people offered themselves willingly, bless the Lord!'"
The world so desperately needs leaders who will take the lead on the side of good, and people who will offer themselves willingly to that cause. We have nominal "leaders," to be sure, but many if not most of them are pursuing something that is very clearly not the good of the people or their nations. I used to give them the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe they don't really know what good is, maybe they're just going along with the current "Narrative." But after trying to talk to even my local leaders, raising common sense objections to or arguments against their proposals, I have come to realize that there is something wrong. They are captured by an ideology that leaves no room for discussion, something more akin to a religion than to politics.
Because of all of this, the people (other than those who have fallen victim to the same ideology) are confused, dismayed, and very unwilling to follow the corrupt leaders anywhere. They can see that they are being led in the wrong direction and that many are already suffering for it. The corrupt leaders don't want to admit what they are actually doing, so everything they say is couched in some kind of confusing, constructed spin that is meant to fool the people and give cover to their corruption. In many cases, they have come to believe their spin as truth, which makes them that much more dangerous. In the midst of all of this, it is impossible to figure out what is actually going on, so the people are left with few options. Many check out, turn to other failed ideologies (like socialism), or become rebellious.
All of this, though, is further confirmation that God is doing something big right now. Whatever is influencing our corrupt leaders is evil. We can see that from the fruits of their actions, no matter how they spin it. Calling abortion a "choice" does not change the mangled dead baby's body. Those millions of mangled bodies are the rotten fruit that tells us abortion is evil no matter what spin is applied to it.
If God is allowing evil to be so prevalent, that means He is getting us ready for something. He is calling everyone back to Him, even those who have fallen under the influence of this evil. We are meant to see that we do need leaders who will take the lead for good, and be ready to follow them when they come. We are meant to remember that Jesus is our King, He is the leader our leaders should be emulating and to whom we should be offering ourselves willingly. Remembering this will help us get through the evil times and recognize the good leaders when God sends them to us. Meanwhile, we pray for all those in positions of power. Perhaps they will repent and become the leaders we so desperately need!
