Tobit 10:12. As newlyweds Tobias and Sarah are getting ready to leave Sarah's parents' home and return to Tobias' parents, Sarah's parents offer their parting words. Raguel, Sarah's father, says to his daughter "Honor your father-in-law and your mother-in-law; they are now your parents." And Sarah's mother, Edna, says to Tobias "The Lord of heaven bring you back... and grant me to see your children by my daughter Sarah, that I may rejoice before the Lord. See, I am entrusting my daughter to you, do nothing to grieve her."

There was a lot of pain, suffering, and struggle in both Tobias' and Sarah's lives leading up to their meeting and their marriage. But here we see what truly good, holy parents Sarah had. Elsewhere we see what good, holy parents Tobias had. And that really is one of the main keys to this happy scene. God rewards holiness in his time. God saw the holiness of both families and the struggles they endured. At the right time, he sent his archangel Raphael to lead Tobias to Sarah. He always has the best plan for us and will see it through. We just need to stay faithful and trust, like both sets of parents here, while his plan works in our lives.
