2 Corinthians 6:14 "Do not be mismated with unbelievers. For what partnership have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?"

We are all created in God's image, He is in all of us and He loves all of us. We, therefore, can and should find something to love in everyone, we should try to see God in others. But Paul is urging us to make our committed relationships, our marriages and our friendships, with fellow believers. This is not because he wants us to be judgmental or close-minded, but because it is better for our faith and our ultimate salvation to be spending time with people who share our belief in Christ. We can influence, advise, support, and correct each other in true Christian love when both parties understand what that is. It is much more difficult to do that with someone who does not believe in Christ, and who may have worldly views on what is righteous and what is not, what is light and what is darkness.

Everyone has a god, whether they admit it or not. Non-Christians are living for someone or something, dedicating their time, talent, and treasure to whoever or whatever that is. Our hope and prayer is that one day that will be Christ for everyone. Until then, though, it's best for Christians to form our committed relationships with those who share our beliefs. Otherwise, we miss out on a large part of Christian fellowship, and risk allowing ourselves to be led astray.
