Isaiah 40:30-31. "Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
Waiting for the Lord really does give us strength and stamina! We know He always keeps His promises, so we know He will set all things right in the end, and in the meantime, every day is an opportunity to help Him do so! This is faith, and it is the only thing I have found that helps get through the darkest of times, or even through times that aren't necessarily dark, but just monotonous and plodding.
Even when we are not necessarily suffering, we can all get into the doldrums sometimes, when life seems pointless or like a drudgery, and depression can set in. But when we are waiting for the Lord and approaching each day as the adventure it is, looking for the smallest opportunities to share God's love, then the ennui vanishes and joie de vivre returns!
Sharing our faith and God's love with others allows them to mount up with wings like eagles, too - it makes the world joyful, and builds God's kingdom on earth. So let's get out there each day and do it!
