Acts 17:1-5. When he arrives in Thessalonia, Paul goes first to the Jewish synagogue, as his custom, to proclaim Jesus as the Christ. "[F]or three weeks he argued with them from the scriptures...." Some of the Jews came to believe, as did many of the Greeks and the leading women, but many of the Jews became jealous and angry and gathered a crowd together to cause an uproar. They attacked the house of Jason where Paul was staying, seeking to seize Paul.
The Acts of the Apostles shows us both how moving and convincing the Word is, and how difficult it can be to proclaim it. Paul had tremendous success in spreading the Word, as we all know, but everywhere he went, he also encountered great resistance, even being imprisoned, and ultimately being put to death.
This is what happens when a "New World Order" is being established. The powerful and those with status under the old world order will not give way easily, even if they are given the greatest testimony, the most obvious Truth. Often the Truth only leads them to stop listening and start acting very wickedly. Jesus Christ is the only New World Order this world ever needed. Paul is testifying to that, which is upsetting to many of those in power. When Jesus comes again to establish his kingdom, that will be the fulfillment the true and lasting New World Order.
The early Church and the apostles suffered through the upheaval and the punishment required to spread the Word of this New World Order, and they were very successful. Today, we see another New World order being attempted. We know that this one will fail, we know that it is the anti-church, as Pope Saint John Paul II described it, we know this because it is not of Christ.
Jesus Christ is the king of our world and of the universe. When it is time for his kingdom to be fully established here, we will know it. Any New World Order that does not speak of Him does not come from Him and is, therefore, antithetical to Him. As we engage in this battle with the anti-church, we must continue to spread the Word and the Truth and be ready to suffer for it, as Paul and the early Church did. It is coming fast, we must be ready to defend the faith!
