Hebrews 2:2-3. "For if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord and it was attested to us by those who heard him". 

As wonderful as this life and the world can be, we are indeed meant to escape it for something even better. That is the great salvation Jesus Christ has won for us - eternal joy in heaven. If we neglect Him and what He has won, we lose that gift, we remain in the state Adam and Eve brought us to - destined to die without hope. No, in fact, we put ourselves in a worse state than Adam and Eve, because they did have hope - God promised them an eventual Savior. We, unlike them at the time of the Fall, know that Savior. He has come and achieved the promised salvation. So we are putting ourselves in an even worse state than existed after the Fall when we neglect what Jesus has won for us.

Yet I see so many doing just that! So many people let the lies and comfort of this world numb them into forgetting that this life is really all about the next! Heaven is our true home; that is what God wants for us and what His Son died to gain for us! When we neglect that, we leave ourselves no escape!
