2 Chronicles 32:13-14. The king of Assyria has sent his servants to Jerusalem to try to convince the people of Judah to surrender to him. He asks them "Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the people of other lands? Were the gods of the nations of those lands at all able to deliver their lands out of my hand?"

I have journaled this passage before, but this time I am limited to these two lines. When we face evil, destruction, a conquering enemy, it always tries to convince us that its power is unsurpassed and its reign over our lives is inevitable. These are lies. We know that our God surpasses all. It is only his will and his power that reigns. Every other earthly power is like foam on an ocean wave - bubbling up and fading in no time at all.

Don't let evil get in your head. Resist its lies. If you can tune it out completely, do (turn off the media, delete social media accounts!). If it comes to you and forces you to listen (and it will), just remember that it is nothing - it has no power over you, even if it seems to win in the short run.
