Exodus 9:27-35. After enduring catastrophic wind and hail, Pharaoh calls Moses and says to him " I have sinned this time; the Lord is in the right " and he promises that if Moses ends the storm Pharaoh will let the Jews go. Moses says he will stop the storm, but he knows that herd is not yet truly fear the Lord. Sure enough, when the hell stops, Pharaoh " hardened his heart " and changes his mind and does not let the people go. Today's gospel at mass was the story of the prodigal son. It struck me how the son used the same words as Pharaoh " I have sinned. " But the prodigal son really had repentant, we know this from the story and the father knew it open friend because the father knows our hearts close friend. Pharaoh was just saying the words. In the midst of his stress and anxiety and of the people's suffering he may have felt a bit like " Hey maybe Moses is right! " But just like we so often do, as soon as the pain had eased a friend from this and from all of the plagues close friend, he went right back to his old ways - he did not truly repent in his heart, hail out his heart to be hardened once again. Moses knew this through signs, this is such a good lesson for me to recognize when the answer to my prayer is actually the answer to my prayer and to give glory to God when where it is due when God lifts one of my burdens or grants me the peace that I have been praying for.
