Song of Solomon 4:16. Just one verse, so here's the whole thing "Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind! Blow upon my garden, let its fragrance be wafted abroad. Let my beloved come to his garden, and eat its choices fruits."
The song of Solomon is a love poem between God and his people. Here, those who yearn for him are asking the winds to awaken and take the fragrance of his creation to him, to remind him of our beauty and his love for us. We are asking him to come to us.
I don't feel like his creation is very beautiful right now. Are we ready to ask him to come to us? I think he is calling us to get ready, but there are many bad things going in that we have to cut out before we can start getting ready!
God's creation is always beautiful - It is always we who mess things up, and boy are we! So in order to feel this beautiful and this ready to call him to us, we better start cleaning ourselves up. If we want to live with him in his garden in perfect love, we have a lot of work to do on ourselves and our world.
Maybe we will get to this point in this life, I hope we do. But if not, if we are not fully ready when our time comes, we will endure purgatory. I think this verse may be thought of as the way we will feel after our necessary cleansing process - finally ready to have him, our perfect lover, come to us see us and be with us for eternity!
