Nehemiah 4:7-8. "But when Sanballat and Tobiah and the Arabs and the Ammonites and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem was going forward and that the breaches were beginning to be closed, they were very angry; and they all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and to cause confusion in it."

Our enemy loves for there to be breaches in our walls. He is very comfortable letting our walls stand, as long as he has his ways to get in. It is very easy for us to overlook these breaches. We look at our "walls" - our faith, our prayer life, our good intentions - and we think we've got everything covered, forgetting or excusing our tendencies toward seemingly smaller sins or wayward habits. Those small breaches give a lot of room for the devil to work! In them, he chips away slowly at our broader defenses, and is very cunning in doing so!

So it is important to close those breaches. You may have noticed, I certainly have, that when you begin working on identifying and repairing those smaller, permissive, inclinations, the devil and his minions get very angry. Their access to you is in danger of being cut off! They will plot ways of fighting against your efforts and causing confusion in your mind and your life. Don't let them stop you! Mend your walls and close those breaches!
