Acts 7:40 "[The Israelites said] to Aaron, 'Make for us gods to go before us; as for that Moses who led us out from the land of Egypt, we don't know what has become of him.'"

 

I mean, he was just off talking to God about you guys, trying to figure out how to get this whole thing off the ground! I think you could have waited a hot second for the guy who led you out of 400 years of slavery before settling on a golden calf in place of the God who orchestrated your rescue! 

 

We do this with God, though. We can be so impatient. We revel in the consolations when they come, but the second they end and God is asking us to hang tight for a bit, we start casting around for something else to give us the comfort we crave. Sometimes we have to abide in uncertainty and just trust. I feel like we are being asked to do that right now.

 

Don't give into the temptation to find a golden calf, any comfort it brings will only be fleeting and will make things worse in the end. Be patient, God is timeless, He will take care of us. He's just doing something (big!) behind the scenes right now!
